Acer V5 171 purchased Sept 2012 (new model)

I loaded 12:04 on my Acer immediately after purchase. Bluetooth adapter
would not turn on under Ubuntu but functioned fine under Windoz 7.
Updated to 12:10 yesterday. Bluetooth radio turns on. I have paired

The python fix is really the best [bandaid] fix IMHO (thanks gcla). Its
non-intrusive, and it works.
But we really do need the driver to be properly fixed so we can take
advantage of all of the hardware's features via the admin screens.

Thanks Gcla, Brian, will check out the python fix, as it appears to be
the least intrusive way to solve this issue. Skewty, I'm running
2.6.35-25-generic. Anyway to get a dkms version of your fix, or at the
least one compiled for 2.6.35-25-generic?

The sensitive keyboard/touchpad tap on click is what is driving me most
crazy about this bug. So annoying to type and then have the mouse jump
/ window switch because of some errant non-intentional mouse gesture.
Can anyone comment how/when this patch will arrive at the point where it
allows:

Small note - it appears that on the initial popup window containing the
text "Press next to install these plugins" that there should be a list
of plugins to install (if my memory of older versions serves me
correctly). Not only is the list blank, but there is no list widget.

Yep, exact same problem for me. I've also attached a dump, showing
dhclient -r eth0 ; dhclient eth0; dhclient eth0
Commenting out lines relating to rfc3442 in dhclient.conf fixed the
issue as well.

Unfortunately that kernel toasted my server. Because of an ubuntu installer
bug, I use lilo instead of grub as my bootloader.
The image in PPA here does not work with lilo - it's too big.

This bug with the bluetooth MX 5000 keyboard & mouse is now over one
year old & became a problem from 6.10. It has been reported three (3)
times that I know of:
Bug number: 67321 dated 2006-10-21,
Bug number: 32415 dated 2006-02-22 &
Bub number 79262 dated 2007-01-14.
The only walk arounds so far
Confirming this, where the directory has been set directly using
.mpdconf rather than symlinks. The music is located on a dmraid device
on an NTFS partition.

Further to my above, I had to re-install Kubuntu 7.04 (AMD64) on my
system (because of a hard drive problem) & even after updates again had
no .WMF file conversion?
However, after about a week the conversion choice appeared in the right
click menu!
So I'm not sure if this is in fact a bug at all
This bug was fixed in the last set of updates.
Didn't take too much notice of what the updates were but I just retried
some WMF files & the option to convert was available again & they
converted successfully.

Further to my last post (Dutch): The audio distortion I concurred with
was in the x86 Kubuntu 7.04.
Have just done a fresh install of an AMD64 Kubuntu 7.04 & encoded an
.avi to a DVD with no audio distortion so the bug is in only the x86 of
Feisty.

Only way to get the keyboard & mouse to work is by booting into recovery, start
up Adept & remove the bluez packages. You won't have any bluetooth conductivity
but your MX 5000 will work.

Thanks for the heads up on hidd. Will give it a go when I do the 64 bit
version again. Got the 32bit going (after reading up in the wiki) by
uninstalling all bluez packages. I don't think I have any Bluetooth
support (& don't need it) but have my MX 5000 working :-)

Logitech Cordless
Have just installed 32bit & 64bit Kubuntu 6.10 with my Logitech MX 5000 USB
Bluetooth keyboard & mouse using the alternate installer. Keyboard & mouse were
detected up until login on first restart.
Kubuntu 5.10, 6.06 & 6.06.1 in both 32 & 64bit flavours had my MX 5000 working
out of the box.

Alternate installer. The installer detected my MX 5000 but at first reboot
keyboard & mouse failed at login same at 32bit.
I didn't bother with rebooting with a borrowed PS/2 mouse & keyboard cause

used the Alternate installer & the MX 5000 was detected throughout the
installation. One first restart keyboard & mouse failed on log in. Borrowed
