Same problem with an HP notebook (DV6 series, x64) and a PC desktop
(x86).

I just bought an HP DV6 notebook and had the same problem with Ubuntu
9.10: no sound.
Fixed the problem by installing linux-backports-modules-alsa-... (kernel
version here).

Update: I found an error in my ~/.subversion/servers file: a leftover
from some experiments that I did trying to force the use of predefined
certificates (trying workarounds for the "certificates bug").
After fixing this config problem, everything works as expected, both
with na_neon and na_serf.
Just to explain how I chose the packages: I added the following entries
to apt sources:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mdiers/svn16/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/mdiers/svn16/ubuntu jaunty main
Then I installed the corresponding subversion package (1.6.5)

Update: Michael's PPA builds work perfectly on my environment!
Many thanks for, Michael!
Checking everything, I've found out that the path to my project was
incorrect. It is working now!
Next releases of Ubuntu should include solutions like that!

svn over https with client certificates brok
Here are my test results for Michael's PPA builds.
svn co https:... still asks for a client certificate ignoring the
configuration files. I can live with that.
But then, the result is:
svn: OPTIONS of 'https://.csd200a.com/': 200 OK (https://.csd200a.com)
It stops right there. No checkout happen
Duh! I didn't take the serf and other files! That was dumb!
Sorry!
I'll test that tomorrow.

Thanks, Michael!
I hadn't seen your suggestion before my previous posts.
It looks like a brilliant idea.
I have followed the link, select the i386 item and 12 deb files appeared.
After downloading and trying to install (with dpkg), there were a lot of broken
dependency problems.
I think I will
I forgot to tell: my project lives in CollabNet.
Last year I worked on a project there without problems with Ubuntu 8.04, using
https, certificates, etc.
Any ideas are wellcome.
Thanks!

svn over https with client certificates broken (regression in intrepid)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2
Wow, that was fast! :) Thanks!
My results:
$ ldd /usr/bin/svn | grep neon
libsvn_ra_neon-1.so.1 => /usr/lib/libsvn_ra_neon-1.so.1 (0xb7dfc000)
libneon-gnutls.so.27 => /usr/lib/libneon-gnutls.so.27 (0xb7ddb000)
$ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libneon.so.27 ldd /usr/bin/svn | grep neon
The problem still happens in Jaunty.
The LD_PRELOAD workaround does not work for me.
This is a MAJOR problem for my project. It might force us to drop
Ubuntu.
