I am getting a similar error, however my error says:
signonpluginprocess crashed with SIGSEGV in
QNetworkConfiguration::~QNetworkConfiguration()
Also the crash reporting tool has a comment saying that I have an
obsolete package libxml2, not sure if there is a way to test after
upgrading libxml2 t
I confirm that the problem exists also on a updated install from Utopic
to Vivid 15.04, but Nouveau driver is working just fine.
To use Nouveau driver I did the following:
sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-settings nvidia-349 nvidia-prime
nvidia-opencl-icd-349
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-ed
I just tried on Ubuntu 14.10 (upgrade) this problem is still present
with the "driver version 340.65 from nvidia-340 (open source)", I
installed the nvidia driver using "System Preferences" > "Software &
Updates" > "Additional Drivers"

I have the same issue using Nvidia (proprietary, tested) driver 331.38 on my HP
Envy using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, kernel 3.13.0-32-generic x86_64.
I also switch to a console using ctrl+alt+f[1-6] and then back to ctrl-alt+f7
and all works for a short time then it happens again.
