There seem to be several duplicates of this bug, so I will post here;

Neither all_generic_ide nor acpi=off allowed to boot into LiveCD
environment. With acpi=off, the clocksource issue goes away, but the
boot process still fails and busybox loads from initramfs. Between the
last line of output from the boot process and the time busybox comes up,

I remember previous reports of firefox-3 crashing on pages containing flash
video - mine here was http://video.on.nytimes.com, but they do not seem to be
available for selection at this time, hence a new bug. No further info at this
time.
Oops, sorry, I misread the description above. What I should have said
was I was unsure my crash was related to FlushPendingEvents, and
therefore belonged in this thread at all. Reported as a new bug now. I

The bug is still present in Hardy Alpha 6. A workaround is to use the
fbdev driver in xorg.conf - this way X uses the framebuffer, which knows
how to handle this video chip correctly, at the expense of acceleration.
