I can confirm the bug and the workaround:
I'm on 10.10 and I used usb-creator-gtk to create an image of Linux Mint 10
(also based on 10.10). I got the same error.
Then I replaced the 'syslinux/vesamenu.c32' file on the stick with the one
found in /usr/lib/syslinux/vesamenu.c32 and it worked.

Low priority, huh? Sure, it's only the most obvious free alternative to
Skype, and an important feature for online communication, but hey,
that's a pretty low priority.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Set GRUB_DEFAULT=saved in /etc/default/grub, then run sudo update-grub

all time)

** Description changed:
Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace-bin
KDE shortcut keys don't work in Kubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) Alpha 3 and
Beta 1.
To reproduce this bug:
- install Kubuntu 10.04 (Alpha 3 or Beta 1)
- execute kmenuedit
- choose a program (e. g.: System, Konsole
- grep'ing /etc/grub.d/ for fd0 yields no results, so the problem probably
doesn't lie there.
- disabling my FDD is not an option for me, because I want to _use_ it (just
not at boot)

I agree, this is _very_ frustrating, since the Menu Editor way to set
key bindings is referenced _everywhere_. It is absolutely counter-
intuitive and stupid that the actions would need to be separately
enabled in Input Actions.

I can confirm Matthias' soggestion for a workaround: Downgrading to
Jaunty's driver package fixes the problem.
Download the package deb here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/i386

Then install it by running 'dpkg -i --force-downgrade xserver-xorg-
