This is still an issue for me with maverick amd64. Running from the
live CD with the provided r8192se_pci module, the iwpriv -a command is
enough to cause a kernel panic for me.

but going to the Realtek driver released earlier this week
(rtl8192se_linux_2.6.0018.1013.2010) fixes that issue! I can't make it
panic any more! Now let me wait and see if I still get disconnects
every few hours.

Running with the same versions, I can confirm the bug. mp3, ogg, wma
all the same. Same behavior: slider doesn't move and no sound comes
out, but everything else appears to work as expected. It happens kind
of a lot for me, and stopping or restarting pulseaudio or restarting
rhythmbox has no
Sounds like the same problem as Bug #228889. If so, you're not the only
one.
