Hi Brian,
You were correct, thank you! I did purge some of the PPA's, and then did
an upgrade, which went quite smoothly. I have been on 18.04 LTS for
about a week now.
It's quite another matter that 18.04 doesn't feel as snappy as 16.04 :)
