I installed Ubuntu's linux-backports-modules package and configured ath9k
module to be offloaded for suspend (see SUSPEND_MODULES config var of 'pm',
`man pm-suspend`).
It didn't fix the problem completely — afterwards i had some disconnects — but
significantly improved the situation.

I found that the problem is kernel related:
When pressing Fn+Up/Down once, `cat /proc/apci/event' gives every event twice.
(Catting /proc/apci/event is possible only after killing acpid.)
