I had the same symptoms than the ones reported above by Janne and Raquel for a Xubuntu 22.04 Live DVD: - I first checked the iso file (checksum ok) => I got "Failed to start Ubuntu Live CD installer" after ~15 minutes, then again after ~15 minutes more I got an almost frozen install Desktop with no way to continue + DVD very buzy - I used another DVD => failed again - I used boot option "nomodeset" => failed again - I finally used boot option "fsck.mode=skip" => then the installation has started and was successful Many thanks for the trick.
