By the way. I went to linux kernel 5.2.1 ideapad_laptop.c and now
there's no no_hw_rfkill_list. It's the opposite, now it has to be
specified if there is a hw-rfkill. So that new laptops don't get this
problem.
One option is to install a ppa with a recent kernel.

Adding my volume to the resume file with RESUME=/dev/mapper/ubuntu-swap doesn't

I have the exact same problem. I keep trying and later on (without doing
anything different it just mounts). I checked my .bash_history did all the same
steps. No success until randomly it works. It is such an annoying bug. I had
this Dir for 3 years always working, suddenly @17.10 it doesn't.

I am having the same problem, and then suddenly after a gazillian tries,
it works. It's not about the keys or encrpytion. The problem is that the
"mount" command is trying to mount to an existing directory, but it
fails saying "no such file or directory".
mount(2) system call failed: No such file
hi. Check all the files in /etc/ld.so.conf.d and /etc/X11/Xsession.d . It you
added a line that ruins everything..I think that this is the place to look for.
Either that or make a vbox with ubuntu with a fresh install and replace these
two directories with original ones ;).

Can someone close this. I've found it. It was related to /etc/ld.so.conf
I had a usr/bin/env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib32/nvidia-current/ in
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/90preserve_ld_library_path and that was the problem
I removed the line I had added in the past and now it works.

I don't really thing the problem is nvidia related. If I remove nvidia 3rd
party drivers and go with nv driver the same thing happens.
