I am not trying to blame anyone. It looks like whoever accessed the
status of this bug probably only read the original post and didn't read
the entire thread. If they had, they would know it affects people under
a wide variety of circumstances and doesn't only affect people watching
video. That
No freezes since May 21 using kernel 3.3.6 and Gnome Classic with
effects on Ivy Bridge 3570K, MSI Z77MA-G45, 16 GB RAM. Thanks Michael

Used patched kernel 3.2.5 in post #103. Still freezes completely with
gnome classic with effects on i5-3570k, z77 mb combo. Played openarena
for an hour or so, surfed the web, then shut down no problem. Booted
system 7 hours later and it locked up a few minutes later while surfing
the net. Going
Using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit and stock kernel 3.2.0.24 (i5-3570K, MSI
Z77 MB). Had complete freezes with Gnome-shell, Unity 3D, Unity 2D,
Gnome classic with effects. I had been running Gnome classic without
effects for over a week with no problems but I just had my first
complete system freeze edi
I hope they can get to work on it. I think 12.04 LTS is great but there
is no point in upgrading if a bug like this makes it unusable.
