My issue may have been different (although it was the same error message). I think in the transition from virtualbox-ose* to virtualbox* packages, something got messed up and vboxdrv was lost. Uninstalling the virtualbox-ose* packages and installing the virtualbox* packages seems to have fixed it.

As previously mentioned, the issue with Rhythmbox (and Sound Juicer and potentially other apps) is different from Banshee.
