I added this line to /etc/vmware/config: xkeymap.nokeycodeMap = true and it fixed the problem, without the warning message. I'm running VMware Server Console 1.0.0 build-108231 on Ubuntu 8.10 -- VMWare keyboard mapping made incorrect on recent Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 Updates -dated Fri Oct 24 2
