FFS, Ubuntu should just set oom_kill_allocating_task = 1 by default.

This issue has been bothering more of a hundred users for more than a
year. In my case there was a workaround at some point, by downgrading
openvpn to an older version (can't remember which).
Being so prevailing and old, it is quite disgraceful that this is not
being addressed on Ubuntu 16 LTS.

Downgrading network-manager package (not the VPN ones) to v1.1.93 solves
the issue so this is an obvious regression.
Note that there was another bug marked as a duplicate of this one but
with a more user-friendly description, along with the workaround.

Using 12.04 64-bits, when I try to turn on software-center
recommendations the "create new accout" dialog hangs while apparently
waiting for a "captcha", and uses 100% CPU (times 2 cores). When
clicking on "I already have an accout", the dialog changes but the CPU
usage stays.
Add my to the "this is just ridiculous" list.
The sort of thing that is driving me out of Ubuntu any day now...

Similar problem with Bamboo CTL-460, since I upgraded to Lucid.
When released after a stroke, the pointer freezes until I fully separate
pen from tablet and re-approach. Then I get a bogus soft dash from the
point where I released to the point where the pen re-enters proximity,
and the stroke fini
Tried a couple things:
1.- Calling "xrandr --auto" which is what I do when connecting external
monitor. No apparent effect.
2.- Pluging USB keyboard with Spanish layout while I was using laptop's
UK layout: Crash!

This is happening to me too with Hardy. Very annoying thing, when using
"network-admin" to configure an interface (wireless), two instances of
SystemToolsBackend.pl get executed and one of them seems to enter a busy
loop for about one minute, and configuration settings don't seem to
apply completel
