It is bios problem.
The MSI's BIOS check kernel 3.7 as Win8, then does not send any scancode out.
After I updated bios, everything work well.

I can confirm this bug.
It first showed up after the upgrade from hardy - i seemed to have fixed it by
adding rw to the fstab mount options.
I added a new graphics card last night - all went well - shut down system. It
now mounts the root filesystem as read only.

OK, success !! - here's what i did
first i created my image hard drives and started kvm with the following
command - adjust to suit your VM
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ kvm -boot d -m 512 -hda '/home/steve/Desktop/REDHAT
TRAINING/VM/disk1' -hdb '/home/steve/Desktop/REDHAT TRAINING/VM/disk2'

- after searching around it seems this command might fix the problem
echo "dsc_overlap:0">/proc/ide/ide0/hdc/settings
but the problem for me is how do i get a console from the installer to
issue the command - can anyone help/check this out

I had this same problem when upgrading from feisty. After reading
through numerous forums and trying "fixes" that made matters worse I got
a little frustrated. I downloaded the latest iso and reinstalled ubuntu
7.10 gutsy. This corrected all of my problems and gutsy gibbon is
