I am getting this same problem (except with HVR-2210), as documented
from the links in the original bug report.
A reboot sometimes doesn't actually work either, and a system that has 4
x HVR-2210's may require multiple reboots to recognise all 8 inputs.

Same H/w as OP on Ubuntu 10.04.
Tried Google Map experiment same result - on 5th or 6th double click on
StreetView lost connection. Just zooming in on map breaks connection.
Loses connection on YouTube as well.
Everything works fine on 9.04 and 9.10 and Windows 7 and Mac and Android
and iPhone.

If you make an automatic playlist in Rhythmbox and limit the size in GB
then the playlist does not get populated. However if you instead enter
the corresponding amount in MB it works fine. I discovered this when
trying to make an automatic playlist of 2 GB this did not work. C

I vote for this to be fixed. After installing the Ubuntu package, on
reboot, the system hangs around for the sendmail MTA to start. Removing
sendmail removes Bugzilla as well. This is still here in Ubuntu 8.04.

With the latest updates the "evms" issue is gone due to the fact that
now UUIDs are being used (still dont like them). But the root=(hd0,0)
issue persists. Please note that these lines have been added by ubuntu
during install so i guess they should be ok in the automagic part.
