Same problem. There is a problem with the configuration server (/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256) Does not seem to effect computer usage. After clicking on Close the graphic interface comes up and everything appears to work. Got this bug when I upgraded from 8.04
