Same issues here with Kubuntu 8.04.2 (Linux yeheyuan 2.6.24-23-generic #1 SMP Mon Jan 26 00:13:11 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux). Installed new RAM a couple of days ago, but memtest says it's fine. As of today the machine crashes frequently, sometimes shutting down X, sometimes garbling the screen...

i tried to boot with noapic and nolapic boot options and it ran well for a while, then ktorrent, firefox, pidgin crashed within a couple of minutes and the system went down. switched back to my old RAM now, will see if that helps. another thing i wonder about (even if i think it's just
