I recently dist-upgraded one of my 10.10 machines that won't play sound for .pps/.ppt files. This did not fix the problem. Note that my problem is not the same as Andre Mangan's -- sound works perfectly with every other application I've tried (VLC, firefox flash plugin, system sounds, etc..).

After some experimenting, I found the cause for the crash. It was an extension script in .nautilus/python-extensions. After removing it and restarting nautilus the crash does no longer happen. The script is nautilus-print.py from http://www.florian-diesch.de/software/python- scripts. So it's not
