I have the same problem on both on Karmic and Lucid with 32bit and 64bit
platforms.

this bug also affects me. please let me know if there is anything i can
do to help isolate or research this bug. until it is fixed, intrepid
upgrade is completely out of the picture for me.
for the record, i have an aopen minipc with a 945 chipset hooked up to
a wide-screen lcd monitor via
just to clarify, i am using a fresh install of intrepid onto a blank
hard drive. in the current setup, i've made no alterations to the xorg
conf file or any other setting whatsoever.
since my system is not a laptop but a small desktop, i have some
troubleshooting options. for example, if i
just installed the daily build from 10/11 and the screen is still black. i
dont think the status should say fix released.
for the record, i had no problems with several intrepid alpha releases and then
updated to alpha 5 and the problem started.
i am using an aopen minipc model mp945.
