I can confirm that clearing ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel removes
the problem in 11.10 temporarily. But this of course is not a long term
solution

Can confirm this also in Lucid. As soon as the quickstarter is running,
neither logout nor shutdown is working. Even without opening any
document. This should be set to higher importance.
