i did a backup of the system before installing a fresh ubuntu 14.04
i had a 32bit 13.10 and backed it up and installed 64bit 14.04
i did:
mkdir /tmp/sda3
mount /dev/sda3 /tmp/sda3

mv /tmp/sda3/* /tmp/sda3/WANAHAT
umount /tmp/sda3

i don't know if there are 2 bugs or 1 only in this topic...
but i think it has to do something with umlauts in the directory names.
my ubuntu cd-image is on desktop (finnish filename Työpöytä) and after moving
it to any other folder that does not contain umlauts, it works 100%

if someone changes the language, it WILL ask you to rename the folder names
(desktop also) after login (in the login screen you choose the language)

No, there is no crash, i can't find you a crash file. but it is a buggy
feature.
the files are disappearing one-by-one after you drag-and-drop them inside the
desktop
i think it is showing the old desktop there (old language before the desktop
folder rename) and it notices that it is not there.
by trying to reproduce the bug i think you know what i mean.
