Same problem on the new dell of my brother in law. Seems that Karmic is
not usable on this laptop and because of the lack of reaction from the
devs no interesting input can be given. I will try to find an answer, to
test if it's gnome related but there are big chance that christmas will

Same here I do think there are a problem for knetworkmanager to
communicate with wallet because the password is never remember. Another
solution than wicd is to kill knetworkmanager and use nm-applet (gnome
version are working fine it's just the kubuntu interface the problem not
network-manager).

Since karmic version I am unable to watch some of my dvd. I was able to
do it under jaunty and it's possible to read with pardus but not with
karmic. The image is completely scrambled with all the differents
software I tried : vlc, totem, xine...

perhaps for the release 42.4? But for what I see nothing change in

I am not agree with you. I cannot do a dist-upgrade without pulseaudio
pacakge to be installed in addition. The only way to do it now is to
fixed the gnome-settings-daemon. I don't know exactly what is inside it
but perhaps that will be a good idea to separate the different component

Solve it by totally removing kde packages and qt packages. I did a purge
installation and I clean by hand the last files I have been able to found in
/etc and /usr/share reinstall everything and now it's working ok.
I hope that I have been unlucky and did an update a bad day.

It was working fine with jaunty but not with karmic. To resume the
plasmoid seems to do nothing at all now. Don't know if it's because
networkmanager has been update but the plasmoid has not been update to

Wicd is fine but there are no plasmoid so to have a graphical interface

but the last upgrade seems to improve the situation a lot. For now the
main problem is that the mouse is not working after hibernation. I need

because I knew unfortunatly by experience that there are no transfer at
all from kde3 - kde4 in 8.10 so I was expected that something was done
in the futur package (as ppa is supposed to be) but this is not the

I think that kubuntu decide to use less disk space on the hard drive.
They will remove everything linked to soprano and so nepomuk. Because I
