1. Tried direct install - install went OK. After reboot i get error message
Could not start kstartupconfig. Check your installation. Clicking OK in
dialog - Screen becomes cluttered with colous, letters and symbols.
The problem is gone on the fourth try. I used custom setup of
partitions. I did not format my home partition on the first three
attempts. I believe there was something related to network setup that
messed up the initial login. Maybe a reference to an old active
directory authentication?

You have to open a terminal and then do:
sudo apt-get update
And then:
Sudo apt-get upgrade

and switch back to kernel 2.6.22.12. Screen OK. New reboot with kernel
2.6.22.13. Black screen again.

Lost screen Geforce8600GT
Public bug reported:
Lost wireless and got problems with screen output after update today.
ASUS A6J laptop. Restricted drivers for new kernel upgrade not loaded +
some other stuff missing. Switched to main repository. Update and
uprade. After reboot everything seems OK.

Problem solved. Switched from Norwegian to main repository. Update and
upgrade. Everything OK. Problems with restricted drivers in Norwegian
repository
