I'm using Grub legacy. The update-grub script generates a command
uuid 1123...
however, Grub legacy says "invalid command". It appears that grub
legacy does *not* support this command. the script should generate the
euqivalent
root (hdn,m)

M2PV-M mainboard. 3 gigs ram. Before 11.04, system ran cool and quiet.
After upgrade, when I put the cover on the chassis, the cpu fan goes
wild and temp soars to 70. For now, I have to run with the cover off
the chassis.

260.19.21 just made matters worse for me. I'm on AMD 64-bit desktop
with a GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS card. With this latest driver, I can't
keep the machine going more than a few minutes before it hangs and then
I have to REISUB to get it back again. I finally reverted to the old
173 driver -- too

Yes, this is still an issue. There has not been any activity in this
report because I stopped using compiz and because apparently no one has
worked on it since it was marked confirmed at the end of January.

I have to start up my application then work with it for a while.
Eventually it crashes, though there seems to be no relationship
