I can report that this bug is still present in 14.04 Server Edition.
I am running an HP Proliant MicroServer G1610. The OS boots from a
Sandisk Cruzer. It is a full installation, not a LiveUSB.
The delay between POST and GRUB is over 5 minutes. Reinstalling Grub
does not resolve the issue. On

Upon further investigation, this seems to be related to the fact that
the Ubuntu package installs the plugin systemwide, rather than in the
~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins directory. I am not sure why, but this seems to
prevent the proper config file from being used.

I have figured out a workaround. It does not solve the issue, as the
preferences file is still not working, but it at least keeps this
particular issue from happening.
Press ALT-F2 and type in "gksu-gedit"
Open the file "usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins/RCtrl.py
On line 1976, change True to False.

selective showing of the r-specific tools seems like more of an upstream

I installed mp3diags and had it strip out the VBRI header and replace it

Okay I resolved the issue. It is not rhythmbox but an improperly
configured installation of Moblock which is preventing the publishing of
the daap share in the first place. It would still be nice to see a

In Xubuntu 8.04 the Gnome-power-manager seems to have no affect on the
system regardless of which settings are applied. I use a thinkpad t61.
There are many threads in the forums that I believe stem from this issue
so I believe it is a wider issue than just my laptop model.

I found the fix. Apparently, there are two mechanisms activated by
default in xubuntu to automount volumes. The gnome mount program (the
name escapes me) and Thunar's built in Volman plugin. I solved this
issue by disabling Thunar's volume management in the program's settings.
