I am using 8.10 and it is no longer an issue for me in that release.

it appears to be corrected with the new updates that have been coming
out. i do have problems with the new date/weather calendar occasionally
freezing making the gnome-panel useless and kill -HUP seems to resolve
that. but i am sure that is not a compiz issue.

After applying the updates from 03/24/2008 during the BETA, compiz began
exiting with a segfault during normal windowing operations: rotating
cube, opening new windows, and using the ALT-TAB window changing method.

I have a Sony laptop with the Intel 3945ABG network interface. I
searched through google for a while and found a reference to network
manager applet being the culprit. I installed wicd as recommended which
removed nm-applet. I then had no connection problem to my WPA network at
home with hidden SSI
