It's based off of gali98's guide within Ubuntu Forums.

I have this HP Pavilion TX2690. In Karmic 9.10 Release Candidate,
without any modifications whatsoever, the pen is working perfectly - but
the touch is not (ie I can't use my finger, but pointing and clicking
with the pen is good).
Would be nice to be able to use my finger, though. Just shout if

replacing the contents of file
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/10-wacom.fdi with that found at
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25262022/working.fdi enables also touch with
proper calibration.

I can confirm this. I had this exact same problem a month back or so - but
fixed it using a _ugly_ (imho) hack.

I just reinstalled my laptop (Dell Latitude X300) from Ubuntu 7.10 cd.
While booting and shutting down from the install-CD, I had the ubuntu
logo startup-thingie showing.
But after it was installed on
I now did a CTRL + ALT + F1 to get out to console, only to find out that
the text was HUGE and did not fit into my screen.
It was like setting a desktop resolution of 1024x768, while only 320x240
of it is visible within the monitor...
