The issue is back. Ubuntu told me there were updates for my system, so I
installed them, and now the issue has returned.
I'm pretty sure what happened was that Ubuntu upgraded the old xserver-
xorg-video-intel package to the most recent version.
How can I prevent Ubuntu from trying to upgrade tha
Alright, I can confirm the fix works. According to the battery
indicator, the battery life seems to have almost doubled now, but I'll
have to test that to be sure.

makes / busy, I agree that plymouthd shouldn't be running at this stage.
Hope this helps with debugging. My system is not clean install, upgraded
several times, maybe this is the source of the problem.

I'm not too sure if Canonical developers could somehow make the bug free
version available in the repos.
It seems to me that CodeBlocks developers should release a new *stable*
version. The version that fixes this bug is still unstable, can be
installed from here though: http://apt.jenslody.de/

I should also add that the bug has been fixed some time ago, it hasn't
landed on Ubuntu yet and I think it has to do with the fact that Ubuntu
already ships the latest version.

This bug is SO old. It has been affecting me on previous Ubuntu installs
( 11.10 I'm pretty sure ).
No idea why this is the first time this is reported. I should've
reported it the first time I saw this happening, but this seems like a
very easy to fix bug I thought it should be fixed soon.

Like he said, nbd in Ubuntu should run under inetd ( sudo apt-get
install openbsd-inetd ), and the lack of a configuration file for nbd-
server shouldn't be an issue.

Its seriously getting on my nerves. I've been copying a whole load of
old disks to my hard drive so i could get rid of them - they're taking
too much room.
It works for the first time, but it shuts down after clicking Copy
CD/DVD for the next CD, no messages shown as the bug description says.
