well i guess you can ignore my last post, it started to work normally 3 days
after the install.
what is strange is that i did nothing that i can remember to fix it.

hello, i am having the exact same behaviour.
i.e. screen start to blank but than goes back to normal. if I disable
screen-saver , the monitor powermanagement standby does not start either. i

hi, finally its ok, i have sound, i did change the music and video
source in the sound properties capplet for alsa instead of auto detect
and it fixes the thing. it did not work the first time i tried cause i
had also unchecked the audigy analog/digital box in the mixer applet.
now everything is wo
i have reinstalled totem to perform further testing. Up to now i tried
with some .mpg and .avi. Multiple try on different files of those 2
types, and no success. those play perfectly in mplayer.
On my earlier post i said that mplayer work out without any
modification. i will correct that by saying

sound work good in other applications.
sound card is creative audigy 2 zs.
worked perfectly in previous version of ubuntu.
ubuntu restricted-extras is installed.
When i play a movie or sound clip, i have no sound, but the image is ok.
i have just retry maybe a month later and it is working perfectly
now I think it might be related to page selected for printing that
might be incoherent, and the error about it not helpfull.

printing installed manually with command:
sudo apt-get install cupsys gnome-cups-manager cups-pdf cupsys-driver-gutenprint
evince installed manually with command:

I can not test the ps thing because

when i try to print from evince absolutely nothing happens and when i
try to print preview i have: Unhandled MIME type: “text/plain”
I have tryed uninstalling and reinstalling evince but it did not fix the
