Trying out an upgrade to 16.04. It didnt go that well as a few packages
failed during the upgraded. After reinstalling the failed packages, the
system starts, but man/db fails.

The previous kernel 2.6.32.23 works fine.

If You are asking me, I would say yes please, that would be nice. :-)
The patch seems to be in conformance to the relevant protocol
specifications, and the non-patched code seems to be failing for at
least a few devices used by a couple of carriers around the world.

I did some testing, and the problem seems to be with modem-manager and
that the modem responds with a SID of 0, in IS-707-A format.

Modem-manager thinks SSD == 0 || SSD == 9 mea
I get similar logs when using the cmotech modem CNU-680 / ice.net D-50
and the option driver.
