Hello again!
I red a lot of these comments and I have the same problem. I would say, that it
isnt a problem of usplash - or splashy - its only the problem of the restricted
driver. I added my infos from lspci to one of my last comments - so I wont do
that again.
Maybe its the nvidia problem - n
with the restricted driver i get a splash screen when ubuntu starts but
not when it is shutting down. and it doesnt matter if i use uspash or
splashy -

I can say, that the fu(n)ky colors will not appear, when i dont use the
nvidia driver. When i activate it, than X will be killed while shuddown
and no download-splash-screen will apear.
I attached the lspci.txt file! I hope that helps.
All in all the nvidia driver sucks on shutdown

on my hardy it isnt fixed. I use splashy hardy with all updates and an nvidia
6600go
I use normal menu.lst with irqpoll
what information do you need else?
