It is fixed in the latest packages in 16.04 Xenial, I hit an upgrade
wall myself, so I was forced to unhold the package.
This is what I currently have installed:
root@brix:~# dgrep libcurl
ii libcurl3:amd64 7.47.0-1ubuntu2.2
amd64
same lockups when copying / rsync 200MB files TO FreeNas NFS server,
didn't have problems reading.
Gigabyte Brix using Asix ax88179_178a Gigabit USB3 nic, tried a second
nic with same result.
Kernel: 3.17.4-031704-generic (mainline)
Xubuntu Trusty 14.0.1
ii nfs-kernel-server
Trying to make a Bluetooth CarPuter instead of using my phone... Windows
failed to pair... and Ubuntu is no better... Can't do it the old Alsa
way... Need to use pulseaudio, yet Bluez is broken and old.. COMMON!
Maybe ill install Lucid.

It seems this was actually changed as of Ubuntu Saucy 13.10, as restart
--system networking and /etc/init.d/networking both failed...
At this point, its faster/reliable to reboot my machine (10 seconds),
than it is to open a terminal, and "ifdown --exclude=lo -a && sudo ifup
--exclude=lo -a".
Solved!

Its libcurl3-gnutls to blame
Raring: 7.29.0-1ubuntu3.4
Saucy: 7.32.0-1ubuntu1.4
Downgrading solves the problem.

Yes, the 'moc' package installs 'mocp' an audio player, which is
confusing, but unrelated to the error message.
'moc' is a QT development tool in qt4, which is normally found in the
binary 'moc'
in qt5, they introduced qtchooser and symlinked moc -> qtchooser..
try running the following:
qtchoos
It seems to echo these messages when we run sas2ircu-status:

I have tested kernel 3.2.9 and it is still the same, will try 3.3

I was using 6stack-dig as a workaround the way i mentioned above. Now i use:
options snd-hda-intel model=targa-2ch-dig
(or targa-dig)
And it works the way it should! (the speakers mute when i plug headphones, and
headphones work)
But i have to be sure that in the parameters of the HDA intel mixer

I forgot to mention that the "headphones" volume was not changing
anything, however the main and PCM volumes were modifying the headphones
and speakers volumes at the same time.
A little workaround to have only headphones working, put:
options snd-hda-intel model=6stack-dig
at the end of /etc/mod
