Changed the seetings of siftware center as below to solve the issue:
System Settings - ubuntu software center - Go to Edit - Software
sources, then in the first tab(Ubuntu Software) enabled the fourth
option and it started working.

when I tried to install ubuntu recommended softwares through ubuntu software
center, though it starts download that perticular software but after few
seconds it throws some error like Failed to download package files check
your internet connection. I have installed
