I'm reopening this bug because there are a couple of problems with the
restricted ati driver. Sometimes the mouse cursor is messed up, firefox
3 is slow when i'm scrolling, some video games are lagging. I checked
the description of the ati driver in synaptic, it says only Ati Mobility
FireGL V5000

I just made a discovery. When I boot from Hardy Alpha 5 live cd using
normal mode I get that huge resolution. When i try to reboot it freezes
at the end. When i boot using safe graphic mode I get a decent desktop
and it won't freeze when I reboot. It just ejects the cd and turns off
when I press

Seems like this bug has been fixed because Hardy Alpha 3 starts with no
problem. The resolution is almost correct, the screen displays the
proper 1280x800 resolution but real resolution is somewhat bigger
because some parts of the desktop doesn't fit in. The resolution cannot
be changed during
1708B and 1709 support refined in alsa-kernel hg.
Does this mean the sound will work in Hardy? I don't know what 1708B and
1709 are but I will test the next version.

After installing the latest OSS driver i have sound from both the
speaker and the headphone, but if I plug in a headphone it doesn't mute

I forgot to mention that first you have to create /home/username/file:/home
before you try this.
For some reason this directory gets created for me on its own from time to
time..

I tried this bug on another system, I got the same result. Same bug
occurred. I think this bug should be set as confirmed.
The result of clicking on a bookmark depends on the existence of an
unrelated directory.

You mean you can't create a directory called 'file:' ?
I simply do right click - create folder.

I thought i'd made this clear. If /home/username/file:/home exists
than the file:///home bookmark drives you to
/home/username/file:/home instead of /home.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using gutsy.
I deleted the /home/username/file: directory and everything is fine
now. I don't know what created that file: directory, I didn't.
Then I recreated the /home/username/file:/home directory and clicking
on Places-home drives me back to
Ok, I've found the .gtk-bookmarks, I'm attaching it.
I don't have /home/username/file:/home listed in .gtk-bookmarks. I
have file:///home listed in it.
Did you try to bookmark your /home directory (not /home/username) and then
create /home/username/file:/home and then click on places-home?

The user can control the bookmarks. Just open any directory with
Nautilus and in the menu select Bookmarks - Add/Edit Bookmarks.

Navigate to /home with Nautilus then click on Bookmarks - Add Bookmark.
Close the window and then click on Places - home.
Nautilus should navigate you to /home but instead it drives you to:
/home/username/file:/home

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo La 1703 latop with VIA vn896 vga and
1280:800 screen. I can't install the final version of Gutsy because the
display server can't start not even in safe mode or with vga=771.
The installation went well with Gutsy Tribe 5!
