Hello Alex,
This is happening in my desktop. I have not experienced the same
bug in my laptop, although my use of xmgrace is not very common
there.
This is the first distribution and version I use in this desktop, which is
new.
Leandro.

Actually I perceive now that it is not only the "evaluate expression" function
that halts
the X xerver. Every menu of the menu bar can halt the X xerver. This is
happening quite
frequently with me.
Curiously, I can go to another tty, and from there, if I kill xmgrace with
"kill" only, instead
I can't reproduce this either in another machine. The problem is that it
freezes all X. To kill
xmgrace, I have to go to other tty.

Almost that.
I'm actually starting xmgrace loading two data sets, with
xmgrace data1.dat data2.dat
where data1.dat and data2.dat are two simple ascii files, as:
data1.dat:
1 3.0
2 4.0
6 8.0
and the same for data2.dat
No, I'm not using desktop effects.
Leandro.
On Mon, Oct 11,
It does not happen 'always', but it happens most of the time, with any
project,newly
created. The dialog for the 'evaluate expression' function does not appear, the
freeze
occurs when I click on that option.
