Thanks for the link, for some reason I was looking in the wrong place.
The issue seems to have been introduced in 4.15.0-13 (4.15.0-12 works).
There is in fact a CIFS related patch[1][2][3] that was backported and
is most probably the one introducing this regression.

4.15.0-20 seems to have the issue as well. I'd try in between builds but
it looks like those have been removed.

This also affects Manjaro Compiz with XFCE.
It is not possible to maximize windows by pressing button in panel
directly after minimizing. One needs to change focus before which is
unexpected behavior.

I have the same problem (and also the other problem 'Vasilis Kourtis
(baskourtis)' [one of the commenters above] is experiencing (although

Maybe someone is willing to spend some time on this. I tried at a point
to gather some support, but well the core developers of empathy believe
OTR is a bad idea, and well jprvita is not willing to continue w
th the FQDNLookup set to false.

On this machine, it happens whenever I wake it from suspend.
Sometimes it doesn't crash, but doesn't respond to anything (any action
in empathy or the indicator, like trying to go online, is ignored) and I
have to kill it myself.
