Well adding Tomboy in a new user worked just fine, so I thought the
updated Tomboy fixed it, but adding it in my regular user is still
messed up.
The exact message is:

time this happened, because without installing anything else (just
taking that applet off) it now works.

It is NOT a Beryl bug. The problem is TOMBOY! Taking off Tomboy (and
KEEPING BERYL) works just fine.

I turned off Beryl, and set it back to Metacity. I added Tomboy to the
panel again. IMMEDIATELY, almost half of the things on my panel
disappeared. Sticky notes, weather, process monitory, and notification
area are all that's left. Menus, clock, log off, and (of course)
Tomboy, are not there.
Oh, it's Tomboy 0.5.6 that's installed right now. I don't particularly
want to put 0.5.8 back onto the panel til I know it works cuz it's a
PITA to remove (like 50 killall gnome-panel and finger-crossings in
hopes that the tomboy's freaking out. delete it? message will pop up

I don't know. After the second time it happened, I clicked the delete
button on the error. The error says something about the tomboy applet
not loading properly, then asks if i want to delete or not delete the
applet from the configuration. The first time I chose not delete
hoping it was fixed

After last night's (9 Feb) update, when I boot, there are no gnome
panels. I have mine set to autohide, but it can't be unhidden, so maybe
the autohide is broken. I also can't get a run box with Alt+F2 like
usual. Booting into an older (meaning 2.6.20-5 instead of
after deleting ~/.gnome2/panels.d and killing gnome-panel a few times,
the panels restarted with an error about Tomboy, so Tomboy is what's
stopping the panels from loading right, I think.

Possible fix (worked for me, thanks to gnubien on #alsa):
add this to /etc/modules
options snd-hda-intel model=m2-2

Yep, I'm using Feisty Herd 2, just installed 2 days ago, all the updates
(with the exception of the Beryl ones that keep breaking and refusing to

just move it to somewhere else on the panel, and suddenly the name and
everything are gone? I just tested this on my computer (also running
Edgy), and it worked just fine. Did you change any settings before this

You have to be running GDM in order for those buttons to appear.
I typed sudo gdm in the shell and it said GDM already running!
Aborting. So, GDM is running on this computer, and the bug is still
