Having the same problem on a Dell PowerEdge T420, 2D acceleration is not
working on 14.04, whereas on 12.04 it worked just fine.

Please help to close this bug report, the fault is mine.. :(
Doing sudo apt-get install debconf --reinstall fixed the problem, but
the root cause of this error is me putting /var/cache on tmpfs.
