i used another command: 'mpg123 a.mp3' and now it is being executed at the
appropriate time.
i think the issue is resolved...but no idea what was wrong with the previous
command 'totem --play a.mp3' which could be executed from the terminal but not

i am also having the same problem.
it happens when the number of packages are very high
i had to divide my 1.4 GB .deb files into three different folders and then
created 3 different cds.

i even replaced the xorg.conf file with the one generated by 8.04 live cd..
but again i get a brown page with a cursor after i enter my login ID and
password.

yes i tried both, but nothing improves.
i remember that after sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, i got atleast the
login page.
but after i entered my login ID and password, i get a light brown page instead
of black and a cursor which can be moved.thats all!
keyboard shortcuts did not work.
