I upgraded manually the kernel to 6.8.12-060812-generic and I can confirm the
issue is fixed.

The issue is actually worse.
In the (likely) scenario where the user already has Docker installed and
then adds podman, they will find upon their next login that their Docker
images and containers have disappeared.
The images can be made visible (and run) only by explicitly unsetting
DOCKER_HOST:
odman and docker are installed side-by-
side.
The purpose of setting DOCKER_HOST to the Podman socket appears to be
solely "to migrate transparently from Docker to Podman Desktop on all
platforms."[2]
The simple fix then us to move these profile drop-ins from the podman
package to the po

I tried a few, with the same results (5.4.0-96-generic and
5.13.0-27-generic signed and unsigned for sure). I started to think that
it was because of something external of the kernel when I noticed that
with the "oem" series of kernels the problem just vanished. I tried some
of the "oem" series but
Sorry but it is nearly impossible to do anything with the system. When
you update the kernel you have almost 5 seconds and then it freeze. It
is impossible to do _any_ kind of log...
