Yes, uncheck the box. But you have to do this with admin privileges of course.
For such operations I use nautilus as sudo (start it in the terminal: sudo
nautilus).
I think the unchecking of the box leads to this behaviour: the system finds a

This is a serious bug since installation of packages works only over
synaptic anymore. Neither sudo apt-get install package nor
apt://package work anymore. Thanks for caring about this.

Under Ubuntu Edgy: when I try to backup something from a local folder to a
remote ftp-folder, keep makes an error saying: Fatal Error: Unable to create

thank you for your answer. In the meanwhile I tried to install Ubuntu once
more. But before I really cleaned up my partitions (with gPartEd). So I had one
10GB-Partition ready for Ubuntu. But then there comes a dialog where the
Installer suggests to install Ubuntu on this partition. Very well.
