The error does not occur when the kernel module "espeakup_soft" was previously

So, now that you said I tried other values and setting speed through
xinput is indeed working (at least for my Logitech M185 at home). I
thought 0.0 was the lowest value. Setting to -0.5 slows it
significantly.

Same problem after updating to 17.04.
With a wireless logitech M185 and a "PixArt Microsoft USB Optical Mouse"
Setting the speed through xinput has no effect, but "xinput --list-props
" shows the updated value.
Changing mouse speed through GUI does not change the value listed by
xinput.

Unfortunately , as a novice user of Ubuntu Linux and I do not have to
provide you with more information . What I can tell you is that the
