I also have this problem on a clean Ubuntu Gnome 64 bit 16.04, running
on a Lenovo Yoga 3.
I have tried chown -R username:username on /var/lib/plymouth, it made no
difference.

For me I can't create a Calendar since upgrade to 9.10, and I've
reinstalled using Package Manager. I'm also unable to set a time zone.
I read that Lihtning needs some libstd++5 file, whilst 9.1 has ++6 - and
even with apt-get install I can't poad a ++5 package - the cure for
