This appears to be fixed in Lucid. fsck progressed quickly to around
71% and then advanced slowly to 100%. Then the system booted normally.
While fsck was progressing, there as a notice that users could press C
to terminate the fsck.

The lucid packages indicate that slib is not available. See
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hu/lucid/devel/guile-1.6-slib.
A work-around was to install the karmic version from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/slib. Then, gnucash installs OK.

In Hardy and prior versions, I used cron to call a script to change my
screen background. In Intrepid, these commands do not work from cron,
although they do work from the command line. For some reason,
