Same issue for me with 12.04 and Selphy CP750. However, came across this thread
(link below) on the Ubuntu forums which suggests installing the CP520 driver
instead works fine. I have done this and the printer works.

Running Gutsy. Toshiba Portege R500. Kernel 2.6.22-14.
4 workspaces in a row. No fancy 3D effects selected.
Unable to drag applications across desktops. Mouse wheel also doesn't
work - used to be able to hover mouse over workspace and scrolling moved
you through the various workspaces.

Sorry for the late reply. I am still on Ubuntu 6.06 as previous
attempts to migrate to newer versions have been a disaster.
I could try it on a live CD, although the keyboard has always worked
well with a live CD.

This is the first line of dmesg:
