Happened the same to me. I bet you previously set a blue background, or
that your wallpaper is mainly blue and Ubuntu set a blue color to the
theme. It seems to me that there is a sort of threshold where you can't
set a custom colour: if the colour is too dark, you can't use it.

I totally agree with this. Ambiance theme was looking really nice in
11.04 and 11.10 but now its consistency is broken by this effect. If you
have a blue background (and therefore a blue dash and launcher) and open
nautilus, you get a window dominated by brown and black, surrounded by
blue = ugly
Do you need more information in addition to what I provided?
This problem is supposedly fixed applying a patch that will -also
supposedly- go into the main kernel in the future. However, I don't have
the necessary knowledge to test it... :S

So we started with a bug saying that ctrl+alt+num behaved inconsistently

I found this article http://blog.le-vert.net/?p=24 that pretty much
describes all my symptoms and explains how it's solved. Supposedly it
should work with a newer kernel. However, going through the process
described there is too much difficult for my skills, so I haven't tried
it.

I suffer a bug that, I think, it's related to this one: If I have two
Firefox windows, each one in a different desktop, and change from one to
another using alt + ', I can't put the mouse focus in the address bar.
The only way to solve it is to go to the desktop switcher and change it
from there.
I think it is, I stated in my report that it also happened to update-
manager.

Got the same bug with NetBeans. The workaround that I use is just
dragging a tab in Firefox (just a bit, don't even need to actually
change its place).

Open launcher as drop target only when close to it
I was used to the old expo plugin this way (left click = highlight,
right-click focus) and I like the ability to move windows around from
the expo. However, I agree with:
-Desktop switcher icon should show distribution of windows (as in old gnome)
-It should be possible to change from one desktop
I also dislike that if I launch an app from the launcher while on the
expo view, it goes to the last active desktop and not to the one I
selected.

That would conflict with the scrolling behaviour that happens now when
there are a lot of elements in the launcher. Why not put all instances
of the application in the top of the quicklist? That happened in Docky
too, from what I remember.

least the version I'm using -2.7.11) and it keeps active when you close
all windows. So the only way to really quit the program is to launch it
again from the dock and then hit ctrl+q

I think the focus should be put in the aplication where the user lastly
put his focus. For example:
I click on the launcher for Firefox, NetBeans and Gedit, in that order.
All start launching and Gedit is the fastest one, so I start typing.
