apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
But it did not work. Without the plugin the browser would give a message that
flash needed to be installed, and with the flash the flash itself would not
start runing, with a gray

I am very sure that I did select with the 'Browse...' button the
document. I did exactly the same procedure now, and the document did

Yes, I have exactly as described in Ubuntu 7.10. The Auto-Reconnect
is not available and Pidgin does not automatically reconnect, nor can I
set auto-reconnect setting in Tools-Preferrences.
Pidgin does report the disconnected status and it is possible to click
on the message, after which Pidgin
