Curiously, though, I've noticed that if I query the
/proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/state
It does shift from open to closed and back again when I close/open the
laptop lid. Just no event fires.

I've got a Sony Vaio SZ650N/C with the same problem. I am running the
AMD64 version of Hardy. I've done an acpi_listen and closed and reopend
the lid - there are absolutely no events listed there, nor in the

here is the kern.log.0 after a failed suspend, and reboot. I did the
suspend by choosing the Suspend option from the menu after clicking on
the power icon in the panel.
