Here is a gif of the problem. I should add that I'm using virtualbox if
this is anyhow connected.
So this giant icon only happens for the first time you click on the tray
drop-down menu.

1. Open a random application window and tile it to one side of the desktop.
2. Resize the tiled window: decrease the size of the window as much as
possible--> the window has some minimum size, so the resizing will stop at some
point --> but HOLD

When middle click an app on Unity launcher, this app opens a new window
(nautilus, firefox, gedit, terminal, etc.). But when middle click an app
that DOESNT SUPPORT multiple windows (rhythmbox, settings, etc), this

I installed the "bamf 0.5.3~bzr0+16.04.20160701" package and the problem
goes away for me!
